In early 18th-century, in Germany, galanterien referred to any fashionable music piece.
It's a nonessential movement added to or inserted in the classical musical suite (as minuet, loure, air). The Festival will explore themes of emotion, taste and refinement associated with the late 18th century.
GRAPHIC IMAGE: As the word galanterie calls to mind the frothy Rococo of Sans Souci Palace
(Potsdam, Berlin, Germany), the architecture of the Chateau is the main inspiration under the graphics.
Golden leaves, fluid lines, floral decorations and stucchi.
Visuals, fully typographic, are conceived around the use a contemporary serif font (Zadie, A2-Type, Henrik Kubel, 2005),
modified and enriched with floral and curvy elements. Its design reminds to Sans Souci lettering. The idea is
to turn letters into decorations, creating a sort or dialogue / rhythm between typography and ornaments.
Colour palette is taken from Sans Souci Palace, too, with a huge use of pale colours: from yellow to jade green,
from pale green to light blue, to baby pink. The result is a delicate, (sexy) elegant and flourishing image,
which makes typography become an illustration.
